Following the success of the 2017 Events and Stories in the News workshop (EventStory, ACL 2017) and its predecessor workshops on events and storylines, the 2018 workshop (EventStory, COLING 2018) aims at further exploring, investigating and understanding representations of events and storylines.
This multidisciplinary workshop will gather researchers in NLP, AI, knowledge representation and structured journalism together with computational journalists to discuss how NLP technology can help to deal with the current stream of information, manage information overload, identify sources and perspectives, and provide easily intelligible representations of the larger and long-term storylines behind text articles.
The 2018 workship will be co-located with COLING 2018, in Santa Fe, New Mexico in August 2018.
